Purity Coffee: Redefining Coffee with Purpose

A few years ago, I found myself utterly exhausted. Despite living a healthy lifestyle, I couldn’t shake the constant fatigue that weighed me down. Doctor visits left me with more questions than answers, and I began drinking more coffee just to make it through the day. That’s when Andrew, my husband, asked a simple question that changed everything: Could the coffee I was drinking actually be making things worse?

That one question sparked a journey that neither of us expected—a journey that led us to create Purity Coffee.

From Curiosity to Calling

As Andrew started researching, he was surprised to find more than 19,000 studies on the health effects of coffee. Contrary to popular belief, many of those studies pointed to powerful benefits—reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, certain cancers, and even neurological disorders. The deeper he dug, the more he realized that the problem wasn’t coffee itself—it was the quality of the coffee most people were drinking.

There was a massive gap between what the science said about coffee and what people actually knew about it. Coffee, when grown, processed, and roasted the right way, is one of the healthiest beverages on the planet. Yet, most of what’s available on the market is filled with mold, mycotoxins, pesticides, or roasted in a way that destroys the health benefits.

We knew we had to do something. That’s when we decided to create a company where every decision—from the soil to the sip—would be made with health in mind. That was the birth of Purity Coffee.

Building a Coffee Company with a Health Mission

We didn’t start with a background in coffee—we started with a purpose. Together, with our cofounders, Jon and Missy Butcher, we built a team of scientists, doctors, coffee experts, and health practitioners to figure out how to create the purest, healthiest coffee possible.

We quickly learned that quality begins at the source. So we committed to only using organic, specialty-grade beans that tested free of contaminants. We sought out farms that had the highest antioxidant levels and realized those coffees were coming from farms that practiced regenerative agriculture—not just for the health of the beans, but for the health of the planet and the people growing them.

Our roasting process became another area of intense focus. Many conventional roasting methods either under-roast (leading to high acrylamide levels) or over-roast (which can destroy the antioxidants). We developed our own roasting protocols designed to preserve the most beneficial compounds, like chlorogenic acids, while minimizing harmful byproducts.

Every step in our process—from sourcing and testing to roasting and packaging—became a science-backed commitment to human health.

Coffee as a Ritual of Connection

But Purity Coffee has never been just about health. It’s also about connection—about the ritual that so many of us begin our day with, and how powerful that ritual can be when done with intention.

We’ve always believed that coffee has a deeper role to play in our lives. It’s how we wake up, how we pause, how we gather with others. When people drink Purity, we want them to feel confident not only that it’s good for their body, but also that it’s nourishing their spirit and relationships.

Andrew and I both feel strongly about building relationships across every part of this company—starting with the farmers and communities who grow our coffee. Ethical sourcing isn’t just a marketing term for us. It’s about honoring the human beings behind every bean and paying them fairly for their work. When people feel connected to the source of what they consume, it creates a ripple effect of gratitude and responsibility.

Real People, Real Impact

Since we launched in 2016, we’ve been humbled by the response from people around the world. We’ve heard from customers who say they can drink coffee again after years of avoiding it due to stomach issues or jitters. Some tell us that switching to Purity helped their digestion, improved their energy levels, or simply made them feel better starting the day.

It’s been such a gift to see Purity grow—not just as a brand, but as a community of people who care about what they put into their bodies and how it impacts others. We’ve been honored to appear on lists like Inc. 5000’s fastest-growing companies, but what really keeps us going is hearing how Purity is helping people feel better in their daily lives.

Where We’re Headed

The journey doesn’t stop here. We continually invest in new research, refining our processes, and exploring new ways to support health through coffee.

And we’re doubling down on education—because we believe that when people are informed, they are empowered to make choices that support their well-being. Whether through podcasts, blog posts, or interviews with health experts, we want to share what we’ve learned and continue to learn.

Our Why

At the end of the day, Purity Coffee was born from a deeply personal place—my own health struggles, Andrew’s curiosity and commitment, and our shared belief that coffee can be a force for good in the world.

For us, coffee isn’t just a beverage. It’s a daily opportunity to care for yourself, to connect with others, and to support a healthier planet and community. That’s what “Purity” means to us—and we’re so grateful to share it with you.

With love and gratitude,
Amber (and Andrew)
